Hi, My name is Ana María!
I am a 30-year-old Colombian, and an authentic paisa (from Medellín). I studied Spanish and Literature at the University of Antioquia which is one of the most prestigious universities in Latinamerica. In may 2024 I finished my masters on Education at the same university, and I have been teaching Spanish as a foreign language for six (6) years now.
I’ve loved languages since I was a kid!
During high school I studied English and German. I got to practice those languages during my travels to Germany and the USA. These trips opened the world to me and I realized that language is not just about communication but also a tool to gather insights into new cultures and new ways of thinking. My passions include reading, travelling, learning languages and dancing salsa!

Planning a Holiday to Colombia?
If you are planning to travel to Colombia, come to the incredible city of Medellin! This city of over 2.5 million people is nestled into the mountains just north of the coffee countryside that Colombia is so well known for. Medellin had a violent history during the 80´s, but in the last decades it has undergone a dramatic revitalization that allows to offer a great cultural and human experience. From here we will work together to schedule your classes according to the different time zones.
Important! Please make sure you read our Terms & Conditions about the classes, cancelations or replacements.
Terms & Conditions
- Each class will take one hour.
- The class will start at an agreed upon time. I will wait 15 minutes from this time. After that, the class is assumed to be “given”.
- If you are late, those minutes won´t be recovered, but deducted from the one total hour.
- Classes must be payed previously.
- You can cancel or change your class with a prior warning of, minimum, 24 hours.
Face-to-Face classes:
We can arrange to do a mix of online and face-to-face classes. This gives you the option to get your foundations in the Spanish language started at home so that when you are in Colombia, you can begin practicing right away. Immersion is where you’ll see your language progress really take off. We can also meet in different parts of the city as the city offers many meeting places such as coffee shops, parks & coworking spaces. Also, here you have the option of individual or group classes (which you would need to arrange).

I didn’t know any Spanish when I first started taking lessons with Ana Maria. She made learning very fun by having different styles of teaching each day: vocabulary flash card, tell stories in Spanish, offer engaging conversations. She was very accommodating to each student’s style and asked for feedback if everything was going OK during the lessons and flexible to make adjustments if needed. Thanks to Ana Maria, I am able to have beginner conversations in Spanish with people after 1 hour a day for 1 month of lessons.
