Meet your teacher

Hola, I'm Ana María

Licensed teacher, materials author and — according to my students — part-time therapist. Enjoying Spanish started as a plot twist in 2020. This is the story.

The story

Born in a pandemic, built with joy

In 2020, the in-person Spanish school where I taught closed its doors. What felt like an ending turned out to be the beginning: I decided to create my own online school for Spanish as a foreign language — and Enjoying Spanish was born.

Six years and more than 300 students later, this adventure has taken me into classrooms all over the world — virtually, at least! Every class has confirmed what I believed from day one: people learn best when they're enjoying themselves.

I never stopped being a student myself. Courses, books and podcasts about language teaching are part of my weekly routine, because you deserve a teacher who keeps growing too.

How I teach

My philosophy: learning is fun

Most Spanish tutors online are simply native speakers. Teaching a language well is a profession — and it's mine.

Grammar that makes sense

I combine clear grammar explanations with a communicative approach — you understand the rules and use them in real conversation, from day one.

Materials written by me, for you

My own books, games and resources — created for real students, refined over 7 years, and adapted to your interests and goals.

Empathy first

Speaking a new language makes everyone feel vulnerable. My students say I feel like their therapist — because I listen, and that confidence is what finally gets you talking.

Spanish beyond the classroom

A WhatsApp community, music playlists, movie lists, podcasts and apps — everything you need to live a little in Spanish between classes.

When you finish

Your progress, on paper

When you complete a level you receive a certificate of completion — and a personal progress report that describes what you can now do in Spanish: a detailed record of your journey, not just a piece of paper.

It's one of my favorite moments as a teacher: showing you, in black and white, how far you've come.

Now you know me I'd love to meet you

Tell me about your goals, your level, or your favorite Colombian food. Any excuse to say hola works.
